B.T.S. OKC

Today was my "last first day"! It was my first official day as a senior in high school. It seems like I'm always a little nervous before I go into school every year, for no good reason. I pulled into the church parking lot this morning to find that only TWO spots were left! Usually at the time I arrive, the whole lot's empty... but since they're doing construction, the school has seriously no parking. FML. All my classes today were pretty easy.. photo was disappointing though. We had to watch this boring movie about adventure photographers (blegh), then I talked to my friends and realized how hard it's going to be to find an old SLR.
Here's what I wore!

Thrifted top and shorts, Aldo necklace
*sorry for the poor photos... the wind was messing up my hair outside :) haha
Also, I love how you can actually see my ombre hair against this shirt... I got so many compliments today!

NO TITLE NECESSARY

Charlotte Russe crop top, thrifted shorts, Aldo necklace and ring, Baker's shoes.

Honestly, I hate this outfit more than just a little. However, it's been sitting on my flashdrive waiting to be uploaded, so I'll share it. I don't know if it's the angle, but the shorts are a little unflattering... I should have wore my darker ones too, because I don't like the color combo.  Oh well!

This is my schedule for next year... compared to last year it's a breeze. I was really upset that my only required senior dance class (stupid Dance Theory), took the place of the only French IV class. Needless to say, I'm not happy about that. This year looks pretty easy overall: only 1 AP class, compared to last year's three, office aide, dance classes only on A days, etc. Now I just have to start on all that college stuff :).
side note: someone finally noticed my hair yesterday! I was at school helping with Camp Comet, and this girl I've had French with forever, complimented it! She's the first person to actually say something (other than Rio, who I actually told about it).

BIRTHDAY, part 2

I painted my candles gold, because they were NOT cute... using acrylic paint prooobably wasn't the best idea, but thankfully nothing caught on fire :) hehe
Today, we actually had my family party with cake and ice cream and all that jazz. This is what I wore, just something simple. I'm thinking about wearing this this coming Friday for the senior pictures my school is making me take (I'm taking my actual ones in the spring). I would also like to note how tan I look... I'm never tan, and I'm not sure how I got to be this dark. I guess going outside once in awhile (or swimming all the time this summer) helps :). Usually, I'm so pale you can see my yellow undertones. Also, my bronzer has turned into my foundation. Okay, I'll stop talking about how dark I look, but it's shocking haha.

t-shirt and shorts from PacSun, Aldo necklace, UO flats

I made this necklace today, with some chain I got from the store. It took me forever to figure out what to do with it, but I think it turned out nice!

This has nothing to do with fashion or the blog, but I got a letter in the mail the other day from Yale. This is the first letter I've gotten from an Ivy League school, which is pretty exciting.

BIRTHDAY: 8/10

I'm finally 17! It feels like I'm always the last one every year to have my birthday (there are 3 people younger than me in my grade though). My day was absolutely wonderful!
For the actual day of our birthdays, in our house we get to choose a special place we want to eat at for dinner. I chose... Pachinko Parlor! I seriously love that place. It's an awesome asian fusion restaurant in the midtown area of OKC. I've only been once before, with my friend Hillary, but I fell in love with their unique sushi rolls (things like Chicken Curry, Sara's Garlic Chicken, and Surf and Turf.) The waiter actually recognized me today! I forgot to take a picture, but we ordered asian spaghetti and 3 kinds of rolls; chicken curry (just that covered in a mango chutney with these crunchy breadcrumb things), surf and turf (beef and spicy tuna... sooo good!), and one called Teddy Roosevelt (it had cream cheese in it so I wasn't much of a fan).
The best part was when we got my brother to quite a large piece of wasabi... a little bigger than a circle the size of a dime! The whole night he had been eating little bits of wasabi straight and not been making any fuss about it (which is weird because he's usually really sensitive to spicy things), but we finally got a reaction when he ate that big piece :)!

After that we went just a few doors down to Sara Sara Cupcakes. I've written a little about their cupcakes before here. My brother got a strawberry cupcake, I ordered a blueberry honey, and my mom and dad shared the infamous Count Rockula. I love how they have this awesome milk bar, with endless strawberry, chocolate, or white milk, and iced cups <3.

Heritage 1981 dress, Future Favorites denim shirt, gifted belt, Baker's shoes, Aldo alligator ring, gifted necklace, Avon Mirror Shine silver nail polish.
It's my birthday outfit! I really fell in love with an outfit on chictopia, were she combined a loose army jacket with a body con dress, and last night it occured to me I could totally do something similar. These heels are amazingly comfortable. I got them at Baker's for prom and I've worn them through a whole school day without any discomfort, love love love them! This has also got to be my favorite nail polish of all time. I got it with a bunch of other metallics from my mom when she was selling Avon, and I don't think they sell it anymore... if they did I would buy bottles and bottles of it!

Ray-Ban Original Wayfarer Polarized
I finally finally got my first pair of Ray-Bans! I've been wanting these suckers for a good 2 years now and I finally got them. I love them sooo much.

A PEN-NY FOR MY THOUGHTS

Sorry for not updating any outfits recently! I've been feeling really unoriginal lately and like I have nothing to wear... I spent all my money I had saved back in January and have only been shopping the few times my Mom has ever so sweetly given me money since. However, not shopping for that long does really force you to be creative with what you have and I feel like I've made some of my favorite outfits during these past few months.
Tomorrow is my birthday (!), so I will definitely be posting more outfits soon. I've already arranged a photoshoot for a few outfits tomorrow with my brother haha.

Since I don't have any outfits to post, I would love to talk about how adorable the Olympus Pen is! I'm loving the E-P2. the most. I think the retro aesthetic of the digital pen series is so cute, and I love that they take professional quality photos in an adorable compact body. The only con really would be that it doesn't include a flash or a viewfinder and there's only one hotshoe to attach things to. Not having a viewfinder is fine for me (I don't have one on my current point and shoot camera), but if I purchased a PEN I would want to save up for one of the flashes to match the body.
The kit I want runs around $900. When I told my mom I was going to save up for it, she just laughed (I must admit I am terrible at saving!). However, my Olympus Stylus is really starting to bother me; it took me forever to take good close ups the other day, all of them kept turning out blurry. I'm also taking a photography class next year, so I feel like it's the right time to upgrade my camera. [And Rumi has one/one, soooo I gotta get it. (so obsessed :D )].
Do any of you have an Olympus pen or another similar micro four-thirds camera (I also like the Panasonic Lumix GF1) and what are your thoughts on it?

ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOLD

It was tax-free day in Oklahoma (the only catch being that it was ONLY clothes and shoes UNDER $100)...sorry for the caps :). I went to the mall yesterday with Rio and spied these super cute shoes at Bakers, so I convinced my mom to take me and my brother back today.
These are the shoes I got... this picture really doesn't do them justice. They reminded me of the Surface to Air shoes that are all over the place right now, mixed with shoes like this from Urban Outfitters.
UPDATE: Browsing the Urban site trying to find the sandals I was looking for for the above link, I found these.

How insane! I think I might take my Bakers' ones back tomorrow, since I haven't worn them and order these. I also found these to links to be a little sketchy... Baker's and Urban Outfitters.
It seems I've turned into a shoe detective!
Back to my day (before I found that either Baker's or Urban is copying one another), I also went to Aldo for some accessories, which I'm desperately in need of. I haven't ever really been an 'accessories person', but lately I've been really inspired by blogs like fashiontoast. Here's what I raked in:

this is just one of my favorite rings I inherited from my grandmother. I love it because the band is adjustable, which is great because I have really small fingers.

PICNIC

It's amazing how much the weather hates me! While I was getting ready to go to a picnic today, it was cloudy and didn't look like the hot hot mess that the weather usually is. So, I decided to wear jeans and a light top. When Rio and I came out of wal-mart after getting chips for the picnic, the sun was in full force... outfit regret poured over me. All was good, under the pavilion, until the sun started going down and all the shade started to disappear.
To alleviate the heat, we decided to go put our feet in the water. The slab of rock was so slippery though! We both almost fell plenty of times haha.
Rio lookin' cute!
